HUNTINGTON -- Wayne and Cabell Midland are both No. 1 this week in the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission football ratings.

Wayne (6-0) jumped into the top spot of Class AA after defeating previously top-rated Scott (6-1), which dropped to fourth. Wayne is at No. 23 Tolsia (3-4) on Friday.

Cabell Midland (7-0) has been atop the Class AAA ratings for several weeks. The Knights are on the road Friday at No. 12 Capital (4-2).

Huntington High (5-1) plays Friday at Logan (5-1) in a matchup of Class AAA teams rated Nos. 3 and 10 respectively.

Hurricane (4-2) is tied for No. 10 with Logan entering a Friday game at No. 24 Greenbrier East (2-4).

No. 13 Point Pleasant (4-2) and No. 18 Spring Valley (3-3) are holding on to playoff hopes. Point Pleasant plays Friday at Class AA No. 27 Ravenswood (2-4) while Class AAA No. 33 Princeton (1-6) comes to Spring Valley.

Tucker County (7-0) is No. 1 in Class A followed by Wahama (7-0), which has a Friday home game against South Gallia (0-7). No. 5 Buffalo (5-1) travels to No. 29 Calhoun County (2-5).

At the conclusion of the West Virginia regular season the top 16 teams in each class make the playoffs.

In Ohio, where eight teams from each region go to the playoffs, one of Friday's big games is Oak Hill (6-1), No. 1 in Division V, Region 19, at Symmes Valley (6-1), No. 6 in Division VI, Region 23.

Division IV, Region 15 No. 2 Ironton is at home Friday against Divison IV, Region 14 No. 2 Bishop Hartley (7-0) from Columbus.

Minford (7-0) is right behind Ironton in their region with a Friday visit to Wheelersburg (6-1), which is No. 3 in Division V, Region 19.
